Inglourious Basterds advert avoids ban

An advert for Inglourious Basterds has escaped a ban by Britain's advertising watchdog after scores of complaints it is inappropriate for children. Skip related content

The Quentin Tarantino war movie was released in the UK in August and was heavily promoted on television, radio and in the press.

More than 20 people protested about the use of the word "Basterds", claiming it was unsuitable and offensive.

But officials at the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have rejected the complaints, ruling the adverts were "unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence or be seen as socially irresponsible."
