The Girls Aloud star is set to perform her first solo track Fight For This Love on Sunday, in the same show Whitney Houston will belt out her latest song.
But instead of singing live on the night, Cole will record her number earlier on in the day because of alleged time restraints - which critics claim is an opportunity for show editors to digitally enhance the star's vocal.
Cole was criticised by her fellow judge Simon Cowell last year when she took to the stage with Girls Aloud to belt out their single The Promise, telling her she was "a little bit pitchy, but you look good."
The 26 year old admits she is nervous about the performance: "The nerves started weeks ago. It's really here and happening. I love performing but I've sat for weeks judging people and now I'm putting myself out there to be judged."

Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, is strolling back onto the stage after a break of 33 years.
