Peter Kowalczyk is currently being examined in a psychiatric hospital after he was arrested for allegedly punching the Bleeding Love hitmaker in the face at a booksigning event in London on Wednesday.
According to The Sun, the 29 year old was spurred on by jealousy after watching the singer win The X Factor in 2006.
His father Tomasz tells the publication he tried out for the programme when auditions were held in London, only to be rejected.
He says, "He wants to be a singer. He went along and queued at (The) X Factor. How far he got with it? Nowhere."
Kowalczyk was charged with assault on Thursday and will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on 26 October.
