The former EastEnders star has been slated by critics since publishers Pan Macmillan posted the first chapter of her book The Mistress online in September.
But the brunette insists she is proud of her work after turning down the chance to use a ghost writer - and she won't let bad reviews keep her from pursuing her new passion.
She tells the Daily Mail, "I knew people would be critical, because I am a celebrity and known as an actress. But I don't care what they say. The only thing I worry about is people being put off giving it a chance and buying it.
"I sent the first draft to someone and he said: 'It needs some work.'
"They offered me a ghost writer, but I didn't take it. That's the best thing for me - seeing that I created a book and I did it by myself.
"As an actress in my 30s, I know this career won't last for ever. So, for me, the idea of being able to write books would be brilliant."
