Several publications suggested the rapper has been plotting a song with the guitarist after Gallagher walked away from the Live Forever hitmakers in August.
But Jay-Z is adamant remarks he made about a possible collaboration were taken out of context.
He says, "It was an offhand comment, someone asked me if I would work with him. I don't have any problem, so I said anything is possible. It's not like we had any talks of doing it, it's like someone asked me would you work with him, I said 'Yeah, I don't have any problem with it'."
The pair hit headlines last year when Gallagher blasted the organisers of the Glastonbury festival for booking Jay-Z to play the traditionally rock n' roll festival.
