The Umbrella singer was forced to pull out of a Grammy Awards showcase in February after her fight with then-boyfriend Brown - on the eve of the prizegiving - left her beaten and bruised, and she hasn't been back onstage alone since.
The AMAs performance will be Rihanna's third in a row - she sang Rehab at the 2008 ceremony and Umbrella in 2007, when she also teamed up to duet with Ne-Yo.
Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and the Black Eyed Peas are also set to perform at the 2009 American Music Awards.




Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, is strolling back onto the stage after a break of 33 years.
