In a statement to the House, Speaker John Bercow said that "up to six" serving members of the armed forces will "always" be found places in the public gallery.
At prime minister's questions yesterday Stephen Pound (Lab, Ealing North) asked for members of the armed forces to have reserved seats to watch PMQs from the Commons gallery.
Gordon Brown said it was an "interesting proposal" and added that it "seems to be something we can support" after consultation.
Today Mr Speaker said that even at high-profile events such as prime minister's questions serving members will be seated.
He added that if more than six wanted seats, they would be given a short tour or seated in the Lords galleries until seats become available in the Commons.
Mr Speaker said we owe a "huge debt" to servicemen and women.
"They are always welcome in this place," he said.
