Microsoft has announced in a Security Bulletin Advance Notification that it will release four patches for Windows and two Office on 10 November. Skip related content
The patches cover Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003 and 2008. Unlike the last Patch Tuesday release, there are no fixes for Windows 7.
The two Office patches apply to Word and Excel in both the PC and Mac versions. Three of the patches are rated 'critical', all for Windows, and three as 'important'. Four of the patches will require a system restart.
"Customers should plan a restart for the Windows bulletins," said Jerry Bryant, security programme manager at the Microsoft Security Response Center. " The Office bulletins may not require a restart if the components being updated are not in use."
