Each week, I pick National Football League (NFL) games against the spread. Below is a recap of my picks from last week, along with my picks for this week.
Last Week
I went 2-1 last week with a push on the Denver Broncos game. It was another positive week for me. My record is now 25-21. I am starting to feel it. Here are my picks for this week.
Jacksonville Jaguars (4-9) at Atlanta Falcons (8-5); Line: Falcons by 11
The Jaguars play defense. Their problem is offense. But this is a Thursday night primetime game. I expect the Jaguars to play well. They have nothing to lose, and they would love nothing more than to dent the playoff hopes of the Falcons. I love the Jaguars getting 11 points here. Pick: Jaguars +11. Falcons 27, Jaguars 17.
Carolina Panthers (4-9) at Houston Texans (10-3); Line: Texans by 6 1/2
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been on a roll lately. But now he faces a very solid team in the Texans. The Texans have won seven games in a row. They will continue to build momentum toward the playoffs with a big win against the Panthers. Pick: Texans -6 1/2. Texans 27, Panthers 16.
New Orleans Saints (10-3) at Minnesota Vikings (2-11); Line: Saints by 7
What do the Vikings have left to play for? Nothing. Saints quarterback Drew Brees will light up the Vikings early and often. If the Denver Broncos can put up 35 on the Vikings, imagine what the Saints will do. Pick: Saints -7. Saints 34, Vikings 13.
New England Patriots (10-3) at Denver Broncos (8-5); Line: Patriots by 6
I am not sure you can pick against the Broncos right now. This is a team that has won six games in a row behind quarterback Tim Tebow. As a team, they are playing as good as any team in the NFL. The Broncos play smart, patient football. In the fourth quarter, they Tebow you. I do not know if the Broncos can win, but they will have a chance in the fourth quarter. So it will be close. Pick: Broncos +6. Patriots 24, Broncos 20.
