A federal court in Los Angeles has issued a temporary restraining order against the site after EMI, the Beatles' record label, took legal action against it on Tuesday.

PARIS (Reuters) - Computer giant Apple Inc will open its first French store beneath the Louvre museum on Saturday just two weeks after Microsoft opened a theme cafe to promote its Windows 7 software. Although Microsoft had a head start promoting its new Windows operating system in France, Apple has placed its first store in a prized position in the bowels of the Louvre museum's "Carrousel" shopping centre.
Milan court blocks Sky Italia soccer rights win
MILAN (Reuters) - An Italian appeals court blocked the awarding of broadcasting rights to football matches for two seasons to satellite operator Sky Italia, a unit of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Italy's football association, Lega Calcio, had awarded six exclusive packages of rights for the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons in July.
Microsoft to set up cloud research centre in Taiwan
TAIPEI (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. and Taiwan's economics ministry said they plan to set up a research centre on the island by next year, in the software company's first Asian foray into the budding cloud computing industry. Cloud computing -- the hosting and storage of services and data on remote centralised computers, is expected to cut costs and has quickly become the sector's buzzword. Many of the world's largest technology companies have jumped on the bandwagon.
Beatles remasters heading to USB
LONDON (Billboard) - The Beatles remasters are coming out on a limited-edition apple-shaped USB drive in time for Christmas, marking the first time the Fab Four's catalogue has officially been sold as digital files separate from the CDs. The USB version of all the albums will be released on December 7 in the U.K. and December 8 in North America. The USB is available for pre-order at the online Beatles store, priced at $279.99 (168.88 pounds).
U.S. jail term for BetOnSports founder
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The founder of the defunct British online offshore gambling firm BetOnSports, Gary Kaplan, was sentenced to the maximum 51 months in prison for conspiring to violate U.S. racketeering and other laws, the Justice Department said on Tuesday. Kaplan, 50, pleaded guilty to the charges in August and as part of the agreement forfeited almost $44 million (26 million pounds) which the U.S. government described as proceeds from his criminal activity. He has been incarcerated since March 2007 and the judge in the case in St. Louis could have given him a sentence from 41 to 51 months in prison.
Yahoo teams with OneRiot on real-time search
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Yahoo Inc, looking to match rivals in providing up-to-the-minute Internet search results, is running tests with several real-time search partners, sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. Among the companies providing real-time results to Yahoo on a trial basis is OneRiot, whose data will be available initially to about 10 percent of Yahoo's users, said a person familiar with the matter, who was not authorized to speak about the deal and asked for anonymity.
