The Czech Constitutional Court ruled on Tuesday that the European Union's Lisbon Treaty as a whole was in line with the Czech constitution, removing the last hurdle its ratification. Skip related content
The ruling means that President Vaclav Klaus can sign the document. His signature is the last formal step needed to finish the pact's approval in the Czech Republic, the only EU member state that has not yet ratified it.
The treaty, aimed at boosting Europe's role in global foreign affairs, must be ratified in all 27 countries of the union to become valid.
