House prices rise in October 

House prices in Britain rose 1.2 percent in October, leaving prices down 4.7 percent in the three months to October versus a year ago, mortgage lender Halifax said on Tuesday. Skip related content

That left the average price of a home at 165,528 pounds, the mortgage lender said. Analysts had forecast a monthly rise of 0.7 percent, leaving the annual 3-month rate at down 4.9 percent.
