U.N. to pull 600 foreign staff from Afghanistan

The United Nations said on Thursday it would relocate or evacuate more than half of its foreign staff in Afghanistan, following an attack by Taliban militants in which five foreign U.N. staff were killed in the capital in October. U.N. spokesman Aleem Siddique said the United Nations would relocate about 600 of its roughly 1,100 international staff. Skip related content

Some would be relocated to safer sites within Afghanistan and some withdrawn from the country, he said, adding that the final breakdown had not been determined.
