Brown taunted over TA cuts 'climbdown'

Tory leader David Cameron has taunted the Prime Minister over his "humiliating climbdown" on cuts to Territorial Army training. Skip related content

Challenged at Prime Minister's question time, Mr Brown said that having looked at all the issues, he had decided that to continue with the training budget was "the right thing to do".

Mr Cameron said it had been the "wrong policy" to cut training when British troops were fighting a war in Afghanistan.

He has accused Mr Brown of performing the U-turn after "weeks of dithering".

It is reported Mr Brown personally intervened to reverse a planned £20 million cut to the Territorial Army training budget.
