Brown taunted over TA cuts U-turn
Gordon Brown was challenged over the decision at Prime Minister's Questions.
He said that having looked at the issues, to continue with the training budget was "the right thing to do".
Mr Cameron said it had been the "wrong policy" to cut training when British troops were fighting a war in Afghanistan, and accused Mr Brown of performing the climbdown after "weeks of dithering".
He said: "This Prime Minister can't even be straight and straight-forward when he's performed a U-turn."
The Government faced a storm of criticism from MPs and soldiers over plans to cut the TA's training budget by £20 million and performed a partial backtrack just two days ago by reinstating £2.5 million of the cuts.
Mr Brown said £1 billion had already been spent this year on the ability to operate in Afghanistan, while another £1 billion relating to operations would also be spent.
