Rachel Adedeji voted off X-Factor - Twins survive
She faced Lloyd Daniels in the sing-off after they received the fewest public votes. Judges Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh backed Adedeji while Cheryl Cole voted to save Daniels, leaving Cowell with the deciding vote.
Cowell said Adedeji sang much better than Daniels but he could not ignore her lack of popularity with the public. It was the third time she'd been in the bottom two.
He used his vote to create a tie which meant the decision rested solely on viewers' votes.
After being voted off she said: "Thank you to everyone who has supported me. It's been amazing and I got to meet so many lovely people and work with great judges."
The decision was bad news for Cowell, who on Saturday described the prospect of the Grimes twins winning as "beyond nightmares, because a nightmare you can wake up from".
