Jonathan Ross praised for helping 'new music'
Ross, 48, has been handed his Music Industry Trusts' (MITs) gong by George Michael at a ceremony in central London.
Described by the award's judging panel as "the UK's most important broadcasting star-maker", Ross received the award for his "hugely influential exposure for new artists".
MITs' award committee chairman, David Munns said: "We salute Jonathan in recognition of his passion for music, enthusiasm for discovering and encouraging musicians and the importance of his two shows for artist development, providing valuable support in challenging times."
But Ross said he did not feel worthy to collect the award because he was only doing something he was passionate about.
He said: "I'm not fully confident I deserve this award because this honour is really just being given the chance to share something I'm passionate about, which is of course music. I'm incredibly fortunate."
