Tories tell Sugar: 'You're fired'
Lord Sugar, who hosts The Apprentice, became a peer earlier this year in order to join the Government as an enterprise czar.
He has attracted criticism in recent days after reportedly describing small firms as "moaners" living in "Disney World" at an event in Manchester on Tuesday.
The Federation of Small Businesses last night called for his resignation, declaring that Lord Sugar had "no grasp of the hard work small businesses do".
Shadow Commons leader Sir George Young said Lord Sugar's comments were a "rather unusual way" to champion the small and medium business sector, which was "normally referred to as the lifeblood of the economy".
During Commons questions on upcoming business, he asked: "With the FSB calling for Lord Sugar to go, do you think he still has the confidence of the companies that he is supposedly meant to be representing or is it time to say: 'You're fired'."
Commons Leader Harriet Harman side-stepped the question but later told Conservative MP Andrew Mackay that she would look into the peer's comments.
