Small increase in swine flu cases
The chief medical officer Sir Liam Donaldson has said the rise, which is moderate in comparison to previous weeks, could be due to the national half-term school break.
The figure is up just 6,000 from the week before with the number of patients in critical care due to swine flu increasing. There are now 848 people in hospital with the virus, of whom 172 are in intensive care.
The number of swine flu deaths in England now stands at 105, with eight in Wales, 31 in Scotland and ten in Northern Ireland. The UK total is now 154 deaths.
