British soldier killed in Afghanistan
The soldier was killed as a result of small arms fire in the Babaji area, in central Helmand Province, on Wednesday morning.
The spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel David Wakefield, said: â€Å"It is with deep sadness I must inform you that a soldier from The Royal Military Police was shot and killed this morning on operations in the Babaji area of Helmand Province - one of our fellow soldiers taken from us in the course of his duty, and who we will remember.�
The soldier's next of kin have been informed.
Tributes have been paid to a schoolgirl who died after slipping in her high heels and falling under a train while waving goodbye to her friends.
