The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty to set up a BPO center in each of the districts in the state. The company said AP was the first state to undertake the rural BPO model in the country. The company plans to extend the model across the country.

Amitabh Chaudhry, CEO and managing director of Infosys BPO, said: "The first such BPO center will be set up in the next six weeks which will provide a testing ground for this model. The capital expenditure and other details will be worked out subsequently. Over 1,000 people would get direct employment through the rural BPO centers in the next 12-15 months.”

In July, Infosys BPO opened an outsourcing facility in the Philippines to offer technologies from Cisco including CRM applications, Unified Communications suite, various workflow-processing tools, as well as routing and switching products.
