The new network will allow broadband access for almost 2,000 students, teachers and school staff. It will also support an increasing number of mobile devices with streamed audio and video content. The company said the contract will enable ISB to provide multi-media instructional tools in its programs.
Russell Layton, ICT Director at ISB, said: "Alcatel-Lucent will provide ISB with a network solution incorporating 802.11n WiFi and 10G PoE LAN switch. All users will have on-demand, 'anytime, anywhere' access to a reliable, robust, and stable high-speed wired and wireless network, supporting an increasing number of mobile client devices, and an increasing amount of streamed audio and video content."
The deal follows Alcatel-Lucent and its Kuwait-based business partner Qualitynet 10-year contract from the Tamdeen Real Estate Company to provide full communications services for its properties, employees, customers and guests.
