Prior to his new role, McClure served as vice president of operations and strategy at McAfee's Risk and Compliance business unit and as senior vice president of global threats and research, McAfee Labs. Prior to joining McAfee via the Foundstone acquisition, he was founder, president and chief technology officer of Foundstone. He also served as executive director of security services at Kaiser Permanente.

DeWalt said: "Stuart was a natural choice, given his 22 years of technical expertise, executive leadership and industry reputation in security. Stuart’s most recent leadership role in our Risk and Compliance Business Unit make him well poised to accelerate the business unit's mission and success."

Last month, it appointed George Kurtz as executive vice president and chief technology officer of the company. In August, it appointed Alex Thurber as senior vice president of its worldwide channel operations.

McAfee reported a 25% decline in net income to $36.8m for the third quarter 2009, compared to $48.8m in the same quarter last year. Revenue increased 18% to $485.3m.
