Chipmaker Qualcomm has appointed Greg Farmer as vice president of the company's government affairs business. He will also lead Qualcomm's office in Washington, DC. Skip related content
Prior to his new role, Farmer served as senior vice president of global government relations and international trade at Nortel. Before joining Nortel, he was nominated and confirmed as the US Government’s Under Secretary of Commerce. He also served as Secretary of Commerce for the State of Florida. He is on the boards of the Telecommunications Industry Association, the Business Council for International Understanding and the Center for National Policy.
Bill Bold, senior vice president of government affairs at Qualcomm, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Greg Farmer to Qualcomm. His extensive legislative and political experience, combined with several years in the telecommunications industry, makes him a tremendous choice to lead Qualcomm's efforts in Washington, DC."
Last month, Qualcomm appointed Alice Kim as senior vice president of strategy and corporate development of its wholly owned San Diego-based subsidiary FLO TV. In July, it reported a 1% decline in net income to $737m for the third quarter 2009, on revenue flat at $2.7bn.
