76ers Defeat Hawks in Big Rebound Game: A Fan's Reaction

The Philadelphia 76ers rebounded nicely from their loss to the Miami Heat. The 76ers went on the road and defeated the Atlanta Hawks 98-87. The team avoided losing consecutive games for the first time this season. Philadelphia earned a big win in this game. They beat a solid team on the road and are now 3-1 in their current stretch against winning teams. As a 76ers fan I am happy to see this team proving its worth against the better teams in the league.

The 76ers won the game thanks to a huge second quarter. They outscored the Hawks 37-20 in the second frame in large part because of their bench. After that the team was able to limit Atlanta in the second half and keep them from coming back. Philadelphia shot 50 percent from the floor despite terrible shooting nights from Andre Iguodala and Jrue Holiday. Iguodala made just three of his 15 shots while Holiday made 33 percent of his shots. Fortunately, the rest of the team was able to pick up the slack.

Six players scored in double figures. Four of those guys came off the bench. Lou Williams, Thaddeus Young, and Evan Turner were among them. The fourth bench guy to score in double figures was Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic put up 15 points as he returned from injury. Spencer Hawes also returned from injury and scored 14 points. It was great to see both big men back in the lineup. They were obviously very productive. But the 76ers didn't have an entirely healthy lineup. Elton Brand missed the game and was replaced in the starting lineup by LaVoy Allen. Hopefully Brand will not be out long and the 76ers can finally be healthy.

The 76ers were solid in most areas in this game. They had half as many turnovers as the Hawks and dished out more assists. The 76ers played strong defense throughout the game, something that didn't happen against Miami. With restored momentum, the 76ers are heading back home to face the Los Angeles Lakers. This is a game that should fire up 76ers fans as Kobe Bryant visits. With the way this team is playing right now the 76ers should have no problem winning this game.
