The currently untitled project will include vocals laid down by the late singer in the weeks before his shock passing in Majorca.
The news was confirmed by Ronan Keating, who was amongst the mourners at his former band mate's funeral in Dublin last month.
"He was so excited about this, he actually texted me just before he went out on the night he died and he said he couldn't wait to get started.
"I had never seen Stephen so full of life, so happy, so healthy and just so alive. That's what's making his death all the harder for us", explained Keating.
Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, is strolling back onto the stage after a break of 33 years.
