AC/DC hope to release new album soon

(BANG) -

AC/DC are hoping to release a new album "within the next couple of years".

Angus Young - lead guitarist in the band - revealed the plans at the group's 'AC/DC Live At River Plate' DVD premiere at the Hammersmith Apollo in London last night (06.05.11) and explained his hopes that they will also be touring again soon.

He told BANG Showbiz: "Well at some point we'll be touring again once we get a new album out, which will hopefully be within the next couple of years."

When asked about whether the band could have an even better tour than 2009/2010's 'Black Ice Tour' - which saw them play to more than five million fans and visit 108 cities in 20 months - he replied: "Yeah, definitely".

Vocalist Brian Johnson added: "We'll try to make the next tour even better, we'll bloody try."

However, the group - who are also made up of Angus' brother Malcolm on rhythm guitar, bassist Cliff Williams and drummer Phil Rudd - were one short at the DVD launch of their concert filmed at Buenos Aires' River Plate Stadium in Argentina in 2009, as Phil's New Zealand home was recently struck by a natural disaster.

Brian explained: "It's been fantastic, we've had a ball these past few days, but poor Phil cannot be here because his house got hit by a storm."

The 'AC/DC Live At River Plate' DVD will be released on Monday (09.05.11).
