Bomb-making material and arms are found by police in Paris during an investigation into a "dangerous" Islamist network.
French state prosecutor Francois Molins said the "components useful for bomb-making" were uncovered overnight in a parking lot in an eastern suburb of the capital.
They included bags of potassium nitrate, sulphur, saltpetre, pressure cookers and headlight bulbs, "all products or instruments useful in the making of what we call improvised explosives", Mr Molins said. A shotgun and handgun were also found.
He linked the discovery to the arrest of a dozen terror suspects last weekend in connection with a firebombing at a Jewish grocery store north of Paris, in Sarcelles last month, and the planning of anti-Semitic attacks.
Mr Molins said the detention of the 12 suspected Islamic extremists will be extended for 24 hours.
He said: "We are clearly and objectively facing an extremely dangerous terrorist cell," adding that it was necessary to "avoid the risk of a terrorist attack in France".
The members of the alleged jihadist cell were detained on Saturday in Strasbourg, near Cannes and in the Paris region.
In one raid, police in Strasbourg shot dead the suspected ringleader, Jeremie Louis-Sidney, 33, behind the September 19 attack in Sarcelles.
