    Arsenal Win 7-5 Thriller

Arsenal have beaten Reading 7-5 in a 120 minute thriller to reach the Quarter Finals of the Capital One Cup.

Arsene Wenger made eleven changes from the side that beat QPR in the Premier League on Saturday, and his make-shift team were behind after just twelve minutes at the Madjeski Stadium.

The veteran Jason Roberts hammering home Hal Robson-Kanu's precision cross.

Reading doubled their lead six minutes later. Chris Gunter's cross was deflected into his own goal by Laurent Koscielny.

The visitors' shambolic defending saw them fall even further behind within just two minutes. Mikele Leigertwood fired an effort towards goal, only for keeper Damian Martinez to divert the ball into the net while attempting to palm it away.

Arsenal fans made no secret of their dissatisfaction with events but were given something to cheer about on the stroke of half-time. Theo Walcott latched onto a through ball from Andrey Arshavin, raced clear of the defence and chipped the ball over Adam Federeci.

Reading retained their 4-1 lead for twenty minutes of the second half. However, it took Olivier Giroud just two minutes to reduce the deficit after coming off the bench, he headed Theo Walcott's corner past Federeci.

Reading's defence was under enormous pressure as they dealt with waves of Arsenal attacks and they cracked with two minutes remaining when Koscielny headed in a corner.

The fingertips of Federici appeared to have prevented Walcott from taking the match into extra-time, but Arsenal were level in the 96th minute.

Defender Nicky Shorey was on hand to stop the ball crossing the line but Jenkinson smashed it home.

There was still plenty more drama to come in extra time. Giroud and Arshavin combined to send Chamakh racing in on goal and he showed his gratitude by steering the ball beyond Federici.

But Reading weren't finished as Pogrebnyak nodded in a cross by Chris Hunt with three minutes remaining. At that point it seemed this roller coaster match was to be decided by a penalty shoot-out. However Walcott and Chamakh struck in the dying moments, ending a heart-stopping night.

Man-of-the-match Walcott couldn't hide his joy: "We've scored seven goals away from home - it was great going forward. Maybe defensively it wasn't great at times, but we're in the draw and that's what matters."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted he had not experience a game like it before in his career: "You always see new things in our game, that's why it's never boring."
