Asus to make next Nexus 10, claim rumours

Asus is set to make the next version of the Nexus 10 tablet from Google according to multiple sources.

The company, which already makes the Nexus 7 and the new 2013 Nexus 7, is rumoured to be about to pick up the contract for the Nexus 10, the company's 10-inch tablet as well, according to Geek.com.

"According to multiple sources reporting," reports the New York based site. "The Nexus 10 refresh is expected to be available on the Google Play Store as well as Best Buy retail stores in time for the holiday season."

Aside from the fact that the company is making the new model instead of the current manufacturer Samsung, Geek.com has very little details, although from previous confirmations from Google we know that the company is in the process on finalising details for the new Nexus 10.

Citing Android and Chrome head Sundar Pichai as the source of information, The Wall Street Journal's Amir Efrati reported last month via Twitter that new Nexus 10 should arrive in the "near future".

"It’s unclear exactly what hardware improvements we’ll see in this new Nexus 10 over the previous generation, but given Asus and Google’s recent work with Qualcomm it’s not hard to guess that we’ll see a Snapdragon chipset powering an impressive 2560×1600 display."

Asus has previously told Pocket-lint that the company is very pleased with the sales of the original Nexus 7, certainly in the UK and no doubt like to repeat that success with a 10-inch version.

Asus has told Pocket-lint that it is "Unable to comment on rumour and speculation."
