    Best MLB Tweets of 2011

Twitter has completely changed the way fans can interact with their favorite athletes. The access is much easier and fans can get to see another side of their favorite athletes off the field.

Here are the top five baseball tweets from 2011:

Brandon Phillips - @DatDudeBP - Brandon Phillips had this tweet sent to him by a 14-year-old third baseman from Cincinnati: "should really come watch the 14u Cincy flames in West Chester tonight!"

Phillips was eating dinner nearby, so after getting directions from the young player, Phillips stopped by, watched the game, and hung out with the players for a little. If you weren't a Brandon Phillips fan before, you should be now.

Logan Morrison - @LoMoMarlins - Logan Morrison might have been the first player to be demoted thanks to Twitter. Morrison was sent down not specifically for Twitter use, but because his focus wasn't where it needed to be, or at least that's what we were told by the Marlins front office.

Morrison tweeted once, "Breaking news: sprained ligament in my foot out 2 to 4 weeks. Told u fantasy people not to pick me up." You have to love Morrison's sense of humor.

Ozzie Guillen - @ozzieguillen - Guillen is always outspoken, so naturally Twitter is a place he would love to vent his frustrations. One such occasion occurred after he was thrown out of a Chicago White Sox game against the New York Yankees for arguing balls and strikes.

Guillen tweeted, "This one is going to cost me a lot of money this is patetic [sic]." Ozzie definitely makes life more interesting, so please keep on tweeting, and with him and Morrison together in Miami, I can only imagine the increase in tweets.

Brian Wilson - @BrianWilson38 - Wilson, like Guillen, is a gold mine when it comes to great quotes, and their use of Twitter only enhances that.

After taking a long break from Twitter, Wilson tweeted, "The Beards back on twitter…..Lets Rage!!!!!!!!!" And with that, Wilson was back on Twitter and currently has over 400,000 followers.

David Price - @DAVIDprice14 - One of the top pitchers in the American League is also a great tweeter. Price always has good stuff on his Twitter feed.

One of his tweets that I found pretty darn funny was when he said, "Question…if I'm in the airport and on one of those walkways that move and I just stand as opposed to walk…does that make me lazy?" Makes you think a little….

Currently, I cover the Orioles for the Baltimore Guide along with being addicted to the entire Major Leagues as well as the NFL. Follow me on Twitter here, or on Facebook here.
