Starbucks 'wasting 23 million litres of water a day'

Mon Oct 06 10:06AM
Starbucks has today been accused of wasting more than 23 million litres of water every day.

The coffee chain, which prides itself on being green, has a health and safety policy of leaving taps running in all of its 10,000 branches worldwide it has been revealed today.

The company policy prohibits staff from turning off a cold tap behind the counter called a 'dipper well'.

This means that Starbucks is wasting roughly 23.4 million litres of water on a daily basis. That's enough water to quench the thirst of the entire population of drought-stricken Namibia.

In Britain where there are just fewer than 700 branches of the coffee shop, 1.6 million litres are wasted every day.

Starbucks bosses claim that the flow of water stops germs from festering in the taps.

Peter Robinson of environmental charity Waste Water told The Sun: "Leaving taps running all day is a shocking waste of precious water. And to claim you are doing it for health and safety reasons is bonkers."

  2. Dear God,
Is there any hope for us with idots like this. Maybe a widespread boycott would bring them to their senses.

  5. Recently, Royal Marines in Iraq, wrote to Starbucks
because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their
coffees, and to request that they send some of it to the troops
there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for
their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support
the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send
the troops their brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should support them
by NOT buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the
open. I know this war might not be very popular with some
folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on
the ground, fighting street-to-street and, house-to-house.

Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit, the
fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close
by for water for the survivors and workers, and Starbucks CHARGED
    THEM! ! !

AN ADDED NOTE TO THIS: STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON
SEVERAL MILITARY BASES IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE NOW BEING
    REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS.

There are 227 Starbucks stores across the UK, and
there's no doubt that our soldiers would
get the same response from this company, so let us do our bit and
boycott Starbucks to show them how despicable their actions
    are.
