OK! magazine
sank to a new low this week by publishing on its front page what it proudly calls
"the last ever pictures of Michael Jackson".
It would appear the term ‘rest in peace' is lost on OK! with its publishers Northern & Shell forking out an estimated £300,000 for rights to use the image.
The photograph shows Michael seemingly unconscious with tubes coming out of his mouth as medical staff try to resuscitate him.
The magazine then has the cheek to call it an "official tribute issue". To me the word "tribute" indicates a certain amount of respect. Now, please somebody show me where on the page any respect is shown to Michael Jackson or his family.
Sarah Ivens, OK!'s editorial director, said: "It's a photo that captures the surprise and the upset and the moment of this breaking news story. I hope the cover will provoke readers."
This is a pale attempt to try and avoid saying what they have really done, which is publishing wholly unnecessary and intrusive images in an attempt to sell a product.
The media can be a cut-throat industry, that's no secret. I, myself, have to try and engage readers from events such as the death of Michael Jackson, but there's a line and OK! has crossed it.
As Andrew Marr foresaw last week, there are three stages to the Michael Jackson reporting; first his death was reported, then the inquest into his death was covered; now the final stage will then be the picking apart of the man. It would appear we're well into that now.

O.K. magazine certainly s@#$%ed the bottom of the barrel to sell this story........Goes to show what sort of journalists report such stories........The picture of michael jackson should be withdrawn from every copy of the magazine.......and show some respect for the man his family and his children .....shame on O. K. magazine reaching such low depths to sell their product

This is the lowest of the low! How blinkered must the editor be! Obviously not human! RIP Michael Jackson I remember you alive and entertaining not fighting for your life! I would never buy that spew!

Michael Jackson was effectively already dead (just not pronounced)when the paramedics reached him, so the magazine should be ashamed, SUED and FINED to within an inch of bankruptcy for publishing this image. I'm not a maniacal Michael Jackson Fan, I can appreciate his talent and uniqueness as a recording artist so it's not that I have jumped on any worship bandwagon ..... I just find it thoroughly insensitive to his family and CHILDREN! They may not be the most conventional family unit but they all knew him and truly loved him, What a disgusting way to make money Ok magazine.

Quote " publishing wholly unnecessary and intrusive images in an attempt to sell a product."
Im not surprised or shocked , its what the media does.

Its awful but I suppose if they hadn't bought the rights, another magazine would have.
Its not a magazine I buy, but I've read it before and thought it was more full of soap stars engagements (complete with pics of their 'tasteful' homes) rather than this distasteful, and disrespectful sensationalism.

Given that when he was put in the ambulance he was not breathing and had no heartbeat Michael Jackson is clearly dead in this photo. He was exploited in life and continues to be exploited by shamless parasites in his death.
