The BNP can no longer afford to be white-only

Reading the headline you may think this post is an exploration into the BNP's policies, however in this instance the headline is to be taken literally: The BNP simply do not have enough money to be a white-only party anymore.

As was commented on by political writer Ian Dunt this week, the BNP were set to go to court on Wednesday, accused by the Equality and Human Rights Commission of breaching the Race Relations Act by not allowing anybody of non-white ethnicity to join the party.

The court proceedings never got underway - the case was adjourned after the BNP changed solicitors at the last minute, potentially a tactic to buy some time while they decided what to do.

On Thursday a statement on the party's website seemed to indicate that Nick Griffin is ready to concede defeat and for the first time accept members of different ethnicities into the BNP. If we are to assume this is true it's a massive decision from Griffin - the BNP has been white-only since its inception in 1982.

Griffin's statement said that if the BNP were to continue fighting the Commission it would bleed the party dry. He claimed that it would cost more than £1 million to appeal and that it would strip the party of the ability to fight the next general election. In his statement he claimed it was a matter of "evolving and living to fight another day or going down in a blaze of glory".

The party leader also implied that contesting the decision was pointless, arguing that the Government's Equality Bill expected to be passed by Parliament in coming months would ban any party from discriminating on grounds of ethnicity.

While from the outside looking in you'd think this wouldn't really affect the party - I mean, how many non-whites would actually consider joining the BNP anyway? But on the inside there are likely to be a large number of members who only joined the party specifically for the reason it was white-only. Griffin's decision is likely to ruffle a lot of feathers within the party and could even cause a massive split right down the middle.

For the first time the BNP will be fighting internal bickering as well as being on the receiving end of the usual external angst, only time will tell as to whether it can cope with both.

Reply to response no 2-u darkstar your arguements are akin to 5 star hotel waiter carrying faeces to his diners...how can whats happening to BNP be racism? its anti racism. Your attempts at writing a Spelling mistake free,grammar error free- pro BNP article with a semblance of a brain are commendable, but please don't make an attempt at evoking pro caucasian mass hyteria read-"values of Britain disappear" "western civilization will die" "death of white people as well" (all from the last paragraph alone!)
Good riddiance the sooner the better to BNP and pro BNP.

I bet if there were a "black" party then whites would be excluded and nobody would say a thing! And I'm sure there are organisations for black immigrants and excluding white immigrants. The racism is AGAINST "white" people who are trying to fight and protect their heritage and culture that is being eroded by immigration and Political Correctness. There is no "equality" in the UK, only one rule for one and one rule for another. The BNP are trying to adjust the balance and give people a choice and a voice.

To be fair ALL (BNP / Black Music Awards / Muslim Council etc etc) of these ethnicity groups should be taken to court so anyone of any colour can join - all costs to be paid by the MPs and Royal Family (even though their money is our money anyway) and tax cheating "celebs".

I am an average white person livng in Scotland but if I were black then I would definetly join the BNP. The BNP are nothing but a load of Nazi idiots!

Regarding Muslims THEY ARE NOT A RACE! ignoramus! These repeated arguments using black police officers is tiring and doesnt evoke any response anymore.
