Microsoft officials
have confirmed that the company is to introduce a way for users to surf the Web
anonymously.
As part of the upcoming Internet Explorer 8 release, Microsoft is incorporating 'inPrivate' - a mode that will not record visits to the user's history and will not allow sites to place cookies on the user's system. Apple currently offers a similar service with its Safari browser.
Many industry pundits haven't wasted any time in pointing out one of the most obvious uses of the feature, nicknaming it 'porn mode,' highlighting the ability to view adult sites without leaving a trail for employers or family members to follow.
There have also been questions raised over the helpfulness of the latest release, which could make it harder for police to track Internet users that are viewing harmful or illegal websites.
On a recent posting to the official IE blog though, Microsoft officials put forward some more innocent uses of the new release:
"Have you ever wanted to take your web browsing 'off the record'? Perhaps you're using someone else's computer and you don't want them to know which sites you visited. Maybe you need to buy a gift for a loved one without ruining the surprise. Maybe you're at an Internet kiosk and don't want the next person using it to know at which website you bank."
Obviously the new Internet Explorer will have pros and cons but my question to you is: Should the Internet be completely private or should our movements be traceable?

one word if you want privacy SOLARIS and if you want a bit more privacy than windows lniux "ubuntu" this is not much better but at least it doesn't leave your private bussiness trailing behind like windows but on the point above i personally think it is a good idea as this may give the incentive to peadophiles to openly use furums to tranfer information thinking there safe this gives the people at homeland surcrity a easyier job as they dont have to crawl through firewalls and surfisticated web forums to catch these people and gain evidence and maybe we might have more of these people in jail

yea sound good to all the peadophiles and s@#$% out there they will love being able to look at indecent images and not get caught. all the cheating partners will love it too. its one of th most stupidest things ive heard of s@#$% the idea already

is anyone that stupid to use a public computer for banking? I think it's wrong to make it totally off the record. Get real, who are the people that need "that" much privacy. Bad idea!!

this will be really good for most users of the internet regardless of what they use it for, if grown adults want to surf adult websites in privacy then they should be allowed to. however that said there should be a 'back door' key to allow enforcement officers to overide the privacy should they require to. obviously this would be with the correct warrents etc but would prevent missuse.

People deserve privacy, as deathly afraid as we are told to be of terroists and paedophiles, they are no excuse for the publics liberty to be curbed. And cars harm lots more children and adults than, terror, child molsting and the internet ever did, so lets ban them?

no history on the PC, yes, great, but providers are obliged to keep a record from each IP address. That is to say, homeland security, CIA, FBI or whoever wants to trace you only has to go see your provider and they'll trace it right to your PC!! That doesn't mean you might have visited a website but if your car number is spotted overspeeding, YOU pay for it!!!

can you string two more words to-gether to say a little more about banning .. like why? if its not paedophiles its we need evrybody to look into what are doing or not doin day and night .. i bet you dont like children playing football on the streets....
It should be banned!
