CCTV Appeal Over Oxford Street Stabbing

CCTV images have been released of people police want to talk to over the Boxing Day murder of a teenager in London's Oxford Street.

The victim, Seydou Diarrassouba, 18, was stabbed to death at the Footlocker shop on the busy shopping street.

Police believe these people may have witnessed the attack
Detectives said they are keen to speak to a number of witnesses who were present at the time inside the shop and have yet to come forward.

They released five CCTV stills - four from Footlocker and one from the nearby Forever 21 store.

Officers are trying to track the people down to confirm whether or not they witnessed the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.45pm on December 26, but the teenager, from Mitcham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The images have been released by the Metropolitan Police
A post-mortem examination revealed he died from a single stab wound to the heart.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Concannon said: "Whilst continuing to investigate this tragic stabbing last Boxing Day, it has become apparent that there are a number of witnesses to the incident who have not yet come forward.

"And it is vital we are able to speak to them so that we have a clear understanding of what happened that day.

"I would encourage anyone who was there and who has not yet spoken to police to contact us."

Anybody who recognises any of the individuals or has any information that may assist the investigation are urged to contact the incident room on 020 8358 0100 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 .

:: A man has been charged over the murder and a number of other arrested people were released on bail.

I have carried a penknife since I was very young. It was used for sharpening pencils, etc. Everyone in my school did the same yet no-one ever thought of sticking their knife in someone else. Now, at the age of 68 I dare not carry one for fear of arrest for going armed. What the hell has this country come to??
      • RALPH 3 months ago
Penknives are legal to carry as long as no blade exceeds 3 inches and its not carried with any intent to cause bodily harm.

Iam a gardener, I no longer carry my pruning knife, it,s more than 3 in long. and Iam 67 years old some fxxking country we are leaving to our grandchilderen,

Indeed Robk, just what are grandparents eaching their grandkids about swearing in public? That's the thin end of a very long wedge.

I also carry a knife all the time, just a small but razor sharp penknife originally bought for skinning rabbits (to cook for pooches) which has now become a personal protection item since I was followed one late afternoon by a man in a van. I would never intentional use a knife on anyone, but if my safety is at risk I'm not going to think twice, whatever the law may be regarding carrying knives.
The real problem is that knife carrying has become something of a trend and a status symbol among youths who want the glory of being "tooled-up" but have no real understanding of just what they're capable of until it's too late.

Why is this request for information appearing almost 2 months after the event? Surely releasing these images on the day (or at the very latest) next day would have been more useful whilst the day's events are fresh in everyone's minds?

The police don't have their heart in it, as the victim was just a black trouble making thug. They are just going through the motions in their own time! You can't really blame them can you.

Steve, You dont mind paying higher taxes for that then ?
      • smc 3 months ago
Michael, I expect Steve - like myself, want the waste of money spent on CCTV diverted to the police on the streets. That way we do not have to pay any more tax.

If the immigrants started living next door to the rich people the countries immigration policy would change overnight.

One thing is very obvious: Violence and murders among members of the black community are clearly gang related just like crime is related to mafia in Italy of those days and killings among the drug dealers in Columbia. Although not so justifiable these are clear motives and gives the authorities a clue as to how to curb such societal ills. After all the whole theory of evolution revolves around the process of the survival of the fittest. But what is so intriguing and baffling is the motiveless, sometimes pleasure killings whose stories are posted almost on a daily basis of some God-knows-what wiping off an old lady, a couple, a 12 or 13 year old, a Vicar, a teenage girl, an oversea student strolling at night...all in cold blood! This is so horrible.

London is becoming a third world city with the trash pouring into it. Most of these witnesses are probably illegal and that is why nobody has come forward

more and more of these stories each week and god knows how many go unreported. yet the powers that be still think it great that we have all these people here in the UK, I ask all of HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THIS SMALL COUNTRY SUPPORT ???????

Outsource our prison system to Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, etc. They have the facilities and could do with the money.
We would save millions of our tax money.
And the criminals will learn the lesson they can't learn here.

WHAT SORT OF PERSON GOES OUT ON THE STREET WITH A KNIFE, IT MUST BE A SAVAGE, WHO INTENDS TO USE IT. PREMEDITATED MURDER SHOULD BE MADE A HANGING OFFENCE.

He mugged and attacked a child and was on police bail, good riddance as far as I'm concerned. One less thug on our streets.
    • Dave  •  London, England  •  3 months ago
I'm sick of hearing about this murder, a thug got killed by thugs so it's his own fault for behaving the way he did, he had a criminal record for mugging people so I'm hardly going to mourn him am I.That's less criminals on our streets including the people who killed him so it's a win-win situation, our streets are a little bit safer.

It's shocking to me how similar American problems are to those in the UK.It makes wonder what our leaders REALLY talk about during these "closed door sessions". Its obvious illegal immigration is a MAJOR drain on our economy and yet not only is nothing done its actually encouraged.I could go on all day about this but i feel your frustration and hope y'all have better luck getting through to the powers that be than main stream Americans have
      cheers
