    Cleverly Retains WBO Crown

Nathan Cleverly produced a confident and classy display on his homecoming night to retain his WBO light-heavyweight crown.

He won with a unanimous decision over American Tommy Karpency at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena.

The 25-year-old was the overwhelming favourite going into the fight and was made to work hard as he tried to impress in his first fight on home turf in over four years.

He tried to take control of the bout from the first bell to the last, and he did not lose a round as all three judges scored the fight 120-108 in his favour.

After winning in Cardiff, he said: "I was pleased with the homecoming, that was the important thing about tonight, bringing world title boxing back to Wales and it was a special occasion and to win every round is great."

After the fight Karpency told reporters: "There is nobody who I have been in with who could knock over Nathan.

"Having gone 12 rounds with him tonight I say he could fight with anyone in the world."

Cleverly said after the fight he hopes to face WBC champion Bernard Hopkins in the summer.
