Craigslist Car: Charges Over Missing Couple

The bodies of two people found near a lake in Georgia have been identified as those of a couple who vanished while answering a Craigslist advert.

Bud Runion, 69, and his wife June, 66, died from gunshot wounds to the head, police said.

A 28-year-old man who turned himself in to police on Monday has been charged with murder and armed robbery.

The Runions are believed to have been going to look at a vintage Ford Mustang listed on the Craigslist website.

Their SUV was discovered submerged in a lake near McRae in southern Georgia's Telfair County. Their bodies were found near the car but not in the water, officials said.

"It's not the outcome we had hoped for," Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson told reporters.

"Obviously it's the situation we have to deal with."

The couple had been driving from their home in Marietta, just outside Atlanta, to McRae, about three hours away, to meet someone who responded to Mr Runion's advert seeking a 1966 Mustang.

Ronnie Adrian Towns, the man who has been charged, is alleged to be the last person to have telephone contact with the couple.
