Aastra Technologies has completed the acquisition of Ericsson's PBX business for SEK 650m ($107m).

Canada-based Aastra said the acquisition will enable it to increase its presence in key markets across EMEA, Asia Pacific, and North and South America.

Tony Shen, president of Aastra, said: "This acquisition will spearhead a transformation for the business, extending our footprint globally to include emerging markets where we believe there is a significant growth opportunity for enterprise communications."

Ericsson's PBX business portfolio includes communications offerings for enterprises, mobility offerings, telephone terminals, and services. It had sales of $496m in 2007.

The sale of the PBX business is part of Ericsson's strategy to focus on telecommunication operators and service providers.
