The vehicle can be seen in position until the drawbridge rises to a more acute angle.

As gravity takes its toll, the quad bike then slips down the bridge, before crashing with an almighty 'thud' on the level road.

It is not known who owned the vehicle, but there were not thought to be any injuries after the incident.

Dutch media reports claimed the quad bike may have belonged to a cameraman for Netherlands network VPRO.

The cameraman is said to have been filming for the 'Netherlands from Above' programme when the drawbridge whirred into life.

When the automatically controlled bridge began to move, he was said to have saved his equipment, but not had time to rescue his vehicle.
