The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their four-day-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, are heading to their Norfolk home.

William and Kate left London this afternoon with their two children and are travelling to Anmer Hall, their bolthole in the countryside, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

The family are expected to spend the first few weeks of Charlotte's life in the refurbished Georgian mansion, which lies in the Queen's exclusive Sandringham estate.

Princess Charlotte was shown off to the world on Saturday evening at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, and slept soundly throughout the photo call.

And, in the days since, she has been introduced to her royal relatives, including her great-grandmother, the Queen, and her grandfather, the Prince of Wales.

The Duchess of Cambridge's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, visited Kensington Palace on Sunday to see their granddaughter for the first time.

Prince William has two weeks of paternity leave from his role as an air ambulance pilot, and will embark on his last stint of training next month.
