England Win Last World T20 Warm Up Match

England's cricketers go into their opening match of the World Twenty20 event on a high after winning their final preparation match against Pakistan.

After choosing to bat first in Colombo, England were bowled out for 111 with three balls remaining in their innings.

Luke Wright's 38 off 36 balls was the only significant contribution as England lost their last five wickets in the space of eight deliveries.

Defending a modest target, spinner Danny Briggs opened the bowling and claimed three wickets for just 15 runs.

Jade Dernbach also took three wickets in the closing stages of the innings with Pakistan restricted to 96 for nine in reply and beaten by 15 runs.

Briggs said: "It came out really nicely, which is pleasing and really good in our preparation. It's good to go into a tournament with confidence, and I hope that can carry on.

"Some of the lads struggled towards the end - it was hard to manoeuvre the ball around, but we knew we were always in the game, with any score on the board, and the way we bowled in the second half showed that."

England begin the defence of their World Twenty20 title on Friday when they play Afghanistan in their first Group A match, followed by a clash with India on Sunday.
