England World Cup Qualifier Rained Off

England's World Cup qualifier in Poland has been postponed after torrential rain in Warsaw.

The kick off was delayed by 45-minutes to allow for two pitch inspections, but despite the national stadium - which co-hosted Euro 2012 this summer - having a retractable roof, the rain and wind was too intense to actually shut it.

Referee Gianluca Rocchi took a final look at the playing surface at 2045 BST but with conditions not improving it was an easy decision to call the game off.

FIFA have confirmed that after discussions with the managers and representatives of both countries the game will be re-scheduled for 1600 BST on Wednesday.
