EuroMillions: Jackpot Winner Will Pocket £126m

The second largest EuroMillions jackpot - £126m - is up for grabs tonight.

The rollover would be the largest pot since Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in North Ayrshire, won £161m last July.

Last Friday six people won £266,505.80 each after matching five main numbers and one lucky star, but no-one matched all seven to claim the £97m jackpot.

On Tuesday, the jackpot stood at £109m but again no-one won the top prize.

Tonight's estimated jackpot would propel a ticket-holder above a winner who banked £113,019,926 in October 2010, but decided not to go public.

Dave Dawes and wife Angela, from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, currently sit third in the list after claiming £101,203,600 last October.

EuroMillions said tickets sales on Thursday were stronger than usual and demand was expected to get even more pronounced as the draw loomed closer.

Mr and Mrs Weir's £161m win last summer put them 430th in the Sunday Times Rich List.

The couple, who had to check their numbers three or four times before realising they had won the record haul, said they wanted to use the money to travel and enjoy time with their family.

EuroMillions has given Britain other giant wins too, including £38m that went to a syndicate of bus drivers from Corby in March.

A young couple from Nottingham who scooped £45m on EuroMillions earlier this year told how they had been trying to buy a second-hand washing machine when they discovered they won.

Cassey Carrington and Matt Topham, both 22 at the time, said they would use the money to splash out on their wedding.
