A family woke to find a car in their swimming pool – after a suspected drunk driver crashed through their back garden wall and took a dive.
The Diaz family of La Puente, California, woke at 5:25am to a loud crash and subsequent splash as 40-year-old Modesto Cabral ploughed through a cinderblock wall surrounding their house and plunged into the deep end of their pool.
Mr Cabral, also of La Puente, was charged on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to California police.
"We woke up to an awful noise and looked outside, and a car was in the pool," Janelle Diaz told ‘San Gabriel Tribune’.
"We had always joked around about it, that someone was going to end up in the pool, because they've hit our wall before," she said.
Mr Cabral escaped through the right front window of the Lexus GS430 he was driving, sustaining only minor injuries from the incident.
