Farmers Desperate For Rain Stage Frog Wedding

The wedding of two frogs has been performed by farmers in India in a bid to bring their region monsoon showers.

The town of Berhampur has been suffering from an intense dry spell and heatwave.

Residents decided to re-visit the age-old custom because of the belief that the ceremony will please the Rain Gods.

People blew trumpets and sang songs, as the priest solemnised the marriage with the usual Hindu marriage rituals.

There was chanting of Hindu hymns as the farmers put colourful streaks on the female frog’s head during the ceremony at a local temple.
