Felix Baumgartner's skydive from space recreated in Lego

Inspired by the exploits of Austrian adventurer Felix Baumgartner the good folk at Lego have created a brilliant reconstruction of his record-breaking Red Bull Stratos jump.

Just like the real thing, Felix takes to the skies in a giant balloon before taking the plunge in a monumental freefall.

The new video offers a bird's eye view of Lego Felix's fall - giving viewers something of a sense of the tremendous speed the Austrian reached during his descent.

The short film wraps up with Felix back on terra-firma after the ride, proudly holding aloft a mini-Austrian flag while milking the adulation of Lego onlookers.

The real Felix Baumgartner made history yesterday by smashing the world record for the highest skydive after leaping from 128,097ft.

He also achieved the fastest ever freefall after reaching a top speed at 834mph (1,342km/h) and broke the sound barrier.

The Lego video was created to promote Vienna's Model Maker Fair which takes place October 25th -28th.
