Footage Shows Huge Crocodile Stalking Tourist in Mexico
Here’s a heart-stopping example of why you shouldn’t feed the wild animals.
A tourist in Mexico was captured on video frantically swimming away from a large crocodile, trying to reach the shore before he was the animal’s lunch.
The footage, taken by Manuel Carrera and published on Noticaribe, shows the young male trying to make dry land, as panicked tourists on the overhanging Boca Paila bridge in Sian Ka’an in watch on in terror.
Sian Ka’an, a biosphere reserve in Tulum, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and is popular among tourists for seeing natural beauty up close.

For this young man, it was too close. The giant crocodile - believed to 10 feet long- looks like it is closing in before a quick-thinking observer distracts the animal by throwing an object at the creature.
Carrera, who posted the video to Facebook, said locals dared not enter the waters for fear of enticing the male crocodile, which feeds off food left by tourists and fishermen.
He pleads that tourists should stop feeding the animals.
“Unfortunately, that crocodile already associated us with food and as the video shows the boy was saved because the crocodile is well fed and chased at a pace that allowed him to reach the shore,” Carrera writes.
