From underground lair to chat show: Julian Assange

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has said he will host a TV show that will feature a number of “key political players, thinkers and revolutionaries from around the world”.

Assange, an unlikely successor to the likes of Michael Parkinson, is continuing to fight against extradition to Sweden over alleged sex crimes. He is also currently at the centre of a grand jury investigation over sensitive US military information released by WikiLeaks.

Assange is living on bail at Ellingham Hall, Norfolk – a far cry from the cold-war underground base of WikiLeaks in Stockholm, Sweden.

The 10-part series will be launched in mid-May and is said to interview guests that will “offer a window on the world tomorrow and their ideas on how to secure a brighter future”.

“Through this series I will explore the possibilities for our future in conversations with those who are shaping it,” said Assange.

“Are we heading towards utopia, or dystopia and how we can set our paths? This is an exciting opportunity to discuss the vision of my guests in a new style of show that examines their philosophies and struggles in a deeper and clearer way than has been done before.”

It is not yet known which TV or online broadcasters will screen the chat show.
