GQ Gongs Mark Team GB's Summer Of Success

Great Britain's Olympians have marked "a year to remember" at the GQ Awards.

Stars including Sir Chris Hoy, Louis Smith, Mo Farah and Jody Cundy came on stage to accept the Team award from Lord Coe.

Sir Chris praised his teammates and said: "It's been a year to remember, thank you very much."

Earlier in the night, fellow cyclist Bradley Wiggins accepted the Lifetime Achievement award from Liam Gallagher.

The Olympic theme continued with the designer of the cauldron Thomas Heatherwick being given the Cultural Icon award by opening ceremony supremo Danny Boyle.

Heatherwick joked that his original commission had been not to put any "moving parts" in the cauldron.

He said: "We then realised we had the most moving parts in the history of Olympic cauldrons, we had about 1,000 of them."

Double gold winner Farah also presented Robbie Williams with an Icon award at the event in the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, central London.

Other awards saw Homeland star Damian Lewis named TV Personality of the year and Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen named best comedian.

Gary Barlow was given the Outstanding Achievement award, while Michael Fassbender was named Actor of the year.

U2 frontman Bono presented the Inspiration award to Sir Salman Rushdie, and Sir Tom Jones picked up the Legend award at the ceremony.

He was presented with the award - and a pair of knickers - by Grace Jones, with the Welsh veteran joking: "Thank you. Us Joneses have to stick together."
